Just when you think you have witnessed every type of exercise machine there is, one comes along which shakes your weight away. It is referred to as a full body vibration machine and unlike a treadmill you do not walk or move on it. You simply stand on the machine’s platform which vibrates causing muscles to contract by using your body weight.
Often a whole-body vibration exercise machine is compact, so it is a form of low impact exercise in which you can perform in the convenience of your own home so you don’t have to bother having to get into a car or take the bus to a gym. This is a great new invention as it is an easy way to exercise yet it can enhance your regular exercise routine. If you exercise regularly and in good physical condition, but are simply attempting to expand your muscles than this machine could be a great addition to your regimen to reach those goals. This is caused by the vibration platform’s ability to produce a “high frequency” movement which produces a stretch reflex in the body (which is an automatic muscle contraction in response to stretching within the muscle).
With a whole-body vibration exercise machine, you can start out by using it for perhaps 10 minutes two or three times a week. Of course this depends on your overall health but you can also use it every other day or do a little bit more here and there when you have time so you don’t immediately plunge into it, which can often cause a person to dread doing their exercise which in turn causes them to eventually stop their new exercise plan altogether. So actually by starting out slow, such as no more than five to 10 minutes, it can help to make your body get used to this different method of exercise referred to as vibration fitness.
If you decide to purchase one of these machines shop around as some offer different features. Some models have a display screen console near the top to navigate its menu selections such as the vibration speed. These machines go on sale so you could find one for about $300. but they also can go up into the thousands of dollars.
Using a full body vibration machine is pretty much a safe method of the new “vibration therapy” and seems to be catching on because basically anyone can use it. While it depends on the particular machine, most of these can hold up to 300 pounds so most overweight people can use it and they will probably benefit from this type of movement. As with any new exercise regimen you wish to start be sure to consult with your physician before beginning any type of whole-body vibration exercise program.
